Mobo Physio was was born out of a desire to understand the unknown. During my youth, I was a competitive figure skater and squash player and suffered my fair share of sprains, fractures and concussions. My experiences eventually led me to a career mending the injuries of others as a physiotherapist and graduated from University of Toronto in 2005 with a Masters of Science in Physiotherapy.

Little did I know that standing in front of me would be the biggest challenge of my life. On Christmas day of 2011, I underwent surgery for a simple fracture in my hand. While it was a very simple surgery and ‘successful’ from a medical point of view, many psychological complications ensued that could not be directly attributed to hand surgery. While my hand was recovering in the cast, I started experiencing panic attacks and feelings of claustrophobia. As time went on, the panic attacks became more frequent and depression started to set in. If that was not enough, I started to lose a tremendous amount of weight. No matter how much I would eat, my astonishing weight loss continued until I was 40 pounds below my regular weight. I would wake up with tremors, have irrational thoughts and my eye would start tearing up for no reason. Neurologists and Endocrinologists did not have an answer, nor did Naturopaths or Nutritionists. I was starting to lose hope, but eventually after 4 years, I did recover.

Where did I find the answer to my recovery? Three sources: Functional Neurology, German Auricular Medicine (a brain based medicine) and Exercise. In a nutshell, my successful recovery had to do with finding the precise movement strategies to challenge my brain to change and then locking those changes in. No drugs, no fancy tools or gimmicks, just good old fashioned movement to spark Neuroplasticity!

This motivated me to pursue education in these fields and made me understand the impact the brain has on body function, movement and enjoyment of life and became a motivating factor in helping others realize the same!

I have experienced a lot and have overcome a lot as well and I am happy to help you work your challenges!!!
